My Preferred Presidential Candidate for 2020

My preferred US presidential candidate for 2020 is Joe Biden. Biden is the Democratic Party’s nominee for president. His worthy competitor is the Donald Trump, the incumbent president and Republican Party nominee. There are a number of reasons why I believe that Biden would make a better president for our great nation. To begin with, in comparison to his competitor, he is calm and collected. The relevance of stable and calm mind cannot be overstated when it comes to leadership. This is more so the case with regard to the leadership of a nation. Today, the US faces a wide range of challenges including, but not limited to terror threats, possibility of a downturn in economic activity, a major pandemic, etc. The country deserves a leader who is able to have a rational (as opposed to emotional) perspective of issues and formulate the most viable solutions. In his past engagements, Biden has displayed this very important trait. His competitor, however, has lost his cool on multiple occasions, i.e. when engaging reporters.

Next, it would also be prudent to note that the nation deserves a leader who is capable of serving as a role model. This is more so the case given that citizens (and more so our children) look up to today’s leaders as role models and align their values alongside those of the said leaders. Joe Biden is not only truthful and honest, but also sympathetic. These are the ideals that every person should embrace. Multiple times, we have seen Biden express genuine feelings about the wellbeing of not only the citizens of this great country, but also persons from other jurisdictions. With regard to being truthful and honest, no reliable accusation has been leveled against Biden regarding dishonest dealings, cover-ups, or even sheer deceitfulness. On the other hand, Donald Trump has continued to peddle falsehoods about a wide range of issues including, but not limited to, the pandemic presently ravaging our nation.
