This article indicates that improper awareness and understanding of laws may impact how women seek medical services and consequently adversely impact their rights in accessing safe, legal abortion services. More importantly, it is imperative for women to gain awareness and comprehend their rights about abortion where the laws are liberal and have insight on how to access medical care. This source is relevant to my paper in demonstrating that women’s awareness of discernment of legal status can impact their care-seeking manners and capability to access both safe and legal providers in the setting where abortion is restrictive and also in settings where it is not. More so, this source will outline some of the barriers that hamper women’s right to abortion, including uneven accessibility of safe service and inadequate capacity to provide high-quality medical services. Also, other obstacles include socioeconomic circumstances and stigma.

For instance, could this make the intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD) inaccessible to women? When pregnant women experience bleeding, could this prompt physicians to provide medical assistance in fear of facing prosecution? Could women who experience vaginal bleeding due to conditions such as fibroids and cancer face a delay in being provided with medical assistance? Such legislation is bound to limit the right of women further.
