Race to the Top is less harsh, but more rewarding to better schools, and provides a huge amount of incentive to improve. (Race to the Top, 1) Only time will tell if President Obama's education program will be successful or not.

Those who oppose using federal money to buy Apple Computers, which are notoriously expensive, are against the idea of education as being a source of pride for America, and a tool for expanding the capabilities of America's new 21st century leadership. Usually, these groups are against public education as a federal mandate, believing that local districts should carry the entire burden of education. This view is popular amongst conservatives, but will tarnish the ability of thousands of schools and tens of thousands of students to acquire an adequate education when they are living within poor school districts. These devices are necessary because they hold in themselves the magic of American ingenuity, and have hundreds of different Education oriented apps on the Apple App Store. Apple Computers are more expensive than many desktop computers that can be had nowadays, but Apple has a long shelf life and a solid warranty program, as well as simple and sturdy devices. With care, the products will last the schools many years, and several grades of students can come to learn and enjoy the devices as they were intended.

Also in opposition to Apple Computers being used for education are Apple's competitors, who have their own education initiatives.
(Davis, 1) These competitors are sincere about their efforts, but have not had the market penetration that Apple commands in this realm. Their products are often in worse quality, and do not last as long, nor are as durable as Apple Computers. In addition, the security and quality of Apple is unmatched by the common PC computer, and post-PC devices such as the iPad or the iPhone do not have peer competitors at this time, and thus are the best products for schools to purchase to fulfill the needs of tablet computer education. The extension of Apple tech support across a school's computer network means the network will be extremely secure and stable compared to computers of the past.

In conclusion, Apple Computers has been an excellent benefactor to the principles of childhood technology education, and has not only provided the tools to learn, but also the platforms for which to better engage students in interactive learning. The technology sector has been growing dramatically for twenty years, and getting K-12 students interested in a career in information technology is a positive thing. Apple is in a unique position to support and manage a complete education package, providing all of the necessary tools for a school to maximize its use from computer systems it purchases. This is why this company has proven to be so important to the expansion of computers at K-12 institutions around the globe.
