Application of Anatomy and Physiology when Performing Direct Patient Care

Scenario: A patient suffering from the following conditions requires direct patient care:

Urosepsis (Urinary tract infection)

Acute Gouty arthritis (Gout)

Cardiac dysrhythmias (Irregular heartbeat)

Hypertensive renal disease (Kidney damage caused by chronic high blood pressure)

DM Type II (Type II diabetes)

Bipolar (Bipolar disorder)

Derangement of joint (Internal joint damage caused by previous trauma)

Contracture joint (Permanent shortening and contraction of joint)

Dental condition (Missing all but four front teeth)

Diabetes causes many of the predisposing factors, including poor glycemic control, high urinary glucose, and increased bacterial adherence to uroepithelial cells, which are known to cause a variety of severe complications associated with urosepsis.
