Running head: LETTER TO THE FRENCH AMBASSADOR

1

Dear Sir/ Madam,

Request for Medical Residency in France

It is with great zeal that I present my request for a medical residency program with focus ophthalmology in your country. I am a hard working student who recently qualified in my examination, and I would wish to pursue my studies in France.

As a young student, one of my teachers asked me what my aspirations were when I grew up. After pondering over the question for an extended period, I responded that I wanted to be a doctor or a mechanic. At that small age, my options were limited, as I did not have a lot of knowledge. I have engaged my friends about their habits of taking excessive alcohol and how they can modify such behavior. Such experiences have helped me improve my interpersonal skills on how to engage other people in conversations. With the experiences, I have gained the essential skills that I will need when engaging patients in a hospital-based setting.

During one of my holidays away from school, I managed to work with a group of French expatriates working in a nearby clinic where I had volunteered. My work mainly involved filling in paperwork for the professionals to help them serve the patients quickly. I managed to learn a lot from the doctors, both on the social and professional areas. I engaged them on different aspects of the French culture especially the language, art, way of life, and monuments with the Eiffel Tower standout among many other things. This re-ignited my love for the French language, and I tried to learn a few words from them. The experience sparked some interest in me of someday being able to work in France to interact with more people like the ones I had….....
