Personal Worldview Inventory

1( A) Key components of Personal Worldview

Worldview refers to the method individuals interpret reality and nature. Worldviews can shape an individual experience, and key components of worldviews include:

Scientific worldview

Religious worldview

Bacterium

Society.

Modern worldview is similar to scientific worldview because modern worldview believes in scientific proof in understanding any event. Typically, the scientific worldview believes that any event that cannot be supported through scientific base is baseless. However, religious worldview is related to the postmodern worldview, which believes that God answers all prayers and all events are caused through supernatural means. Religious worldviews believe that knowledge can only come through supernatural and spiritual means. On the other Bacterium believes that events are caused by biochemical means while the societal worldviews are caused through cultural ontology.

I (B) Modern Western Worldview and Postmodern Worldview?

Modernism refers to the view of most people in western part of the world today. It refers to a strong belief of western people about logic, rationalism and science. Modernism believe that people should use science and logic to be a neutral of observer of the world. Modernism disregards supernatural belief because it cannot be proven by science. However, postmodern worldview is against the modern western worldview on the ground that science and logic are the tools to understand the world, however, they can answer all mysteries happening in the world. Postmodernists attempt to embrace the holistic medicine through spiritual means. Essentially, postmodernists believe that events are caused by supernatural means through God and spiritual interventions. Contrarily, modernists deny any event that is not based on a scientific proof.

In my own case, I support the postmodern worldview because there are several events that happen today that cannot be proven scientifically. Several years ago, I had experience of spiritual healing, which made me believe that God carried out spiritual healings. Some years back, I was very sick and I used all western medicine to cure the disease with no results. When the sickness was very critical, I prayed to God, few days later, I had a dream that somebody in the dream gave me an injection. When I woke up, I felt in my body that someone had picked me with an injection. The second day, I recovered from the sickness. Although, modernists can prove that an individual can have a dream, however, modernists cannot prove that an individual can be healed through dream. I support postmodern worldview because the theory proves that supernatural events do occur and it will continue to occur. (Paggit, 2009).

2(A) Christian Worldview for Nursing.

In the contemporary nursing environment, God's intervention assists nurses to carry out the healing successfully. Typically, nursing is built upon a Christian practice and thought. God is the creator of the universe and God shapes our immense understanding of human health and environment that we live. Thus, the concept of Christian worldview for nursing can inform the health concept and embraces spiritual caring through prayer and faith, which enhances compassion and caring of patients. In essence, the worldview lens has tremendous impact on nursing practice with reference to caring for patients. Essentially, the Christian faith can shape the nursing practice because Jesus Christ encourages his disciples to care for others including dying or sick people. From Jesus teaching, it is revealed that caring for body through prayer is fundamental strategy to combat illness. When nurses approach nursing practice through Christian worldview, they will be able to combat illness and diseases.

"Phenomenology is meant to enrich our understanding of health in adding to the disease-level analysis a level of analysis that addresses the questions of how the physiological states are lived as meaningful in an environment." (Svenaeus, 2001 p 87).

The concept of phenomenology of disease and illness reveals that illness can disrupt the biological functions of the body, which can lead to disease. By consequence, the framework of phenomenology of illness contributes to the patient-nursing relationships in order to improve patient care. My experience with illness and disease is that God is the ultimate Healer of disease and illness. Through constant prayers, nurses can heal any disease. The illness suffered by the Ivan Ilych was a natural cause, however, Ivan did not use the Christian World view in combating the illness despite that he was a devoted man.

2(b) "Christian concept of the Imago Dei"

The concept of Image Dei is a Latin word, which means 'image of God." The concept Image Dei imprints God upon humanity, and identifying human as His special creation.

Stuck Writing Your "Assessment and Analysis of Personal Worldview Inventory" Essay?

In the Bible in the New Testament under Genesis 1.26-27, God said "Let man be created in Our image," and God created Adam in His Own image. For several centuries, the Christian concept of Imago Dei has influenced the unique approach of healthcare. When Greeks developed medicine, the Christians advised the believers the method to use medicine by pointing out that God heals the sick people through the work of Physicians. Moreover, early Christians philanthropies were informed by the spiritual and theological concepts of Image Dei and believed that it was only God Who could provide care to a sick person. Since God has created human in His own image, God has the responsibility to care for sick people. Although, healthcare professionals have undergone years of training to learn the art of caring for patients, however, God has the final say in caring for sick people because God provides knowledge for healthcare professional.

Thus, the concept Imago Dei is very relevant to the unique approach within the healthcare environment because the concept reveals that healthcare professionals are required to integrate God believes in their professional practices. Typically, it is very importantly for healthcare professionals to integrate Christian spiritual believes in their professional practice and always ask for God guidance when implementing healthcare practice. It is also important to understand that God creates man in His own image and God understands human physiological part. Thus, healthcare professionals are required to seek for God's guidance in their professional practice to carry out their professional practice successfully.

3( A) Use of Colossians 1 for concepts of "God," "Environment, "Person," Nursing, and "Health.

Colossians 1 reveals that God gives grace to Jesus Christ, who advises his followers to always pray to receive the Grace of God. Moreover, from Colossians 1, it is necessary for true Christians to show love to other Christians because anybody who shows love to other fellow human being will be rewarded in the heaven. Colossian 1 also reveals that God provides knowledge and spiritual wisdom to man and anybody given the God's knowledge will be strengthen with power.

In the Bible, Colossian 1, God created the world and made all the living things in the world to be fruitful and increase in number. Moreover, God assists the Minister of Christ to be endowed with the Spirit of God. Thus, God gives knowledge to people in order to be fulfilled with the words of God . The Colossians 1 reveals that people should use the knowledge given to them to create peaceful environment. One of the ways to create a peaceful environment is to be endowed with the Spirit of God and this can be achieved through prayers. Thus, man should not cease to pray and always give thanks to God in other to achieve everlasting joy. The Colossians 1 also reveals that people should show love to one another and it is through love that man can develop a conducive environment, which will enhance healthy environment.

In essence, nursing practice is related the teaching the words of God because nursing practitioners should ask for the God guidance in their professional practice in order to deliver quality healthcare for patients. Typically, nurses should always pray to God and ask for more knowledge to carry out their professional practice. Moreover, nurses should ask for the Spirit of God to guide them in the professional practice to deliver high quality healthcare for patients.

3( b) Tensions that might be experienced arising from difference in Worldviews

The concept of Worldviews are set of assumptions and beliefs, which expresses cultures, explain and interpret experiences. Typically, worldview is very useful within the healthcare environment and healthcare providers play a critical role in reducing health disparities. However, difference in religious and cultural beliefs among healthcare providers, nursing administrators and patients can lead to a tension within healthcare environment. The healthcare environment composes of different professionals with different religious and cultural backgrounds, and some healthcare practitioners are Christians while some of them are Muslims. In some healthcare environment, some healthcare professionals do not belong to any religion. More importantly, patients are from different religions. Thus, disparities of religions among healthcare professionals can bring tension when nurses attempt to implement Christian worldviews for patients who are non-Christians. It is essential to realize that some people are very extreme with their religious beliefs and some of them do not want to listen to the views of other religions apart from their religious.....
