Blue Sky

I am looking out my window and the sky is blue, clear blue. I am six. There is not a cloud in the sky. There is no thunderstorm in the distance. How is the weather today? Fine. How are you today? Fine. Everything is simple. I am who I am. I have nothing to worry me. Life is simple. I am simple. I have a family. I will grow up one day and get a job and get married. I will have a career. I will build a house. I will buy a nice car to put in my two-car garage. I don't know who I will marry and what I will be but I don't need to think about it, everything will work itself it. I just know that these things will happen. Right now, all I have to do is be with my family, go to school and all these things will happen. Until then, I have dinner on the table for me every night at six. I watch television in the morning while I eat my breakfast. Everything is simple. I am simple. The world looks good, the sky is blue.

Cloudy Sky

I am looking out my window and the sky is blue, mostly blue. I am ten. Small white clouds appear in parts of the sky. Just a few. How is the weather today? Mostly fine. How are you today? Mostly fine. My life is mostly simple, except for a few white patches. White patches that float across my mind just as the clouds do. I go to school each day. I sit in classes with my friends. My friend says he is going to be a doctor because doctors get paid the most. My other friend says he will be an architect. I don't know what I will be. It is a decision that must be made. But it will come to me in time. As long as I keep coming to school and keep listening in class and do all my work. My friend says he will never get married.
He says marriage is a bad thing and that people get mean when they get married. He says they shout and scream and fight. I don't want to shout and scream and fight. But my parents do not shout and scream and fight. My other friend says you do not have to be married. You can be just one parent, like his Mom. You don't have to be two. I still think I would like to be married. I don't know to who, that will come in time. When I grow up. I have dinner at six every night.

Gray Sky

I am looking out my window and the sky is gray, dark gray. I am fourteen. There is a thunderstorm in the distance. How is the weather today? It's going to get worse. How are you today? I'm going to get worse. I can see the clouds approaching. The storm approaching. I go to school each day. I am not always as good as I should be in class. Sometimes I like to learn, sometimes I like to talk. My grades are not as good as some. I don't know what I will be when I get older. I may have a career, I may not. I may get to choose it, it may choose me. You do not always get to be what you want to be. My friend wanted to be a doctor, but I know he is not smart enough. I don't know what I will be smart enough to do. I may get married, I may not. My friend says some people only get married for a short time and some people get married lots of time. His Mom has married a….....
