Leadership

Jimmy demonstrated strong leadership characteristics from his early career with the military. He was a team player early on, and enjoyed working with his fellow officers but also with his superiors. This demonstrated Jimmy's ability to be flexible, and to take as well as share responsibility. One of the reasons why Jimmy has been successful is that he demonstrated early that he was a good leader, which is why he earned accolades from his superiors in the military. However, one weakness that his supervisors noted was that Jimmy tended to be too impatient with his subordinates, and placed high expectations on them.

When it was time for Jimmy to find work in the civilian sector, he naturally gravitated toward leadership roles. Jimmy's leadership characteristics include a penchant for communications. For example, when working as a leader in the home improvement store, he told his employees that he would be on call 24/7 to address any problems or concerns.

When he noticed a problem, he empowered his employees to find out a solution and this is integral to his leadership style. He remains highly enthusiastic and still expects a lot from those around him.

2. My conclusions of Jimmy's leadership characteristics are based on the descriptions of his behavior, and also on his performance evaluation reviews written by his employees. Several of the employees point out that Jimmy does worry a lot. He is somewhat of a perfectionist, and demands a lot from his employees. Some of his employees point out that they do not care as deeply about the company as Jimmy does. They are self-described "yahoos," whereas Jimmy genuinely sees himself as being responsible for the company. Also, Jimmy sent out the email to all his employees about the shopping carts, as if the situation required team intervention. This was not the best way to approach the matter.
