Computer Based Information Systems are not only a luxury, but in today's business setting they are a necessity. The amount and types of information required to perform standard tasks has increased exponentially and will continue to increase in the future. Computer Based Information Systems allow managers to divide the information into functional groups within an organization. A CBIS can allow a manager to quickly analyze past data, present data and use this information to make predictions about future trends.

CBIS can be customized to meet the specific needs of the organization. For instance, information can be divided into Human Resources, Financial Information, Marketing, and Manufacturing Information, or other categories as the needs dictate. The system can be used to give other groups access to certain information or to deny certain groups access to information.

The CBIS can quickly and efficiently generate a number of reports. Reports can be generated in a standard format.
