In Dunn's poem "Hard Work," we find a similar young boy who envies his friends away at camp while he labors in the Coke factory. Two key lines in this poem show how difficult it is for a young child to be forced into hard work -- "When I came home at night, my body/Hurt with that righteous hurt/Men have brought home for centuries," (15-17), meaning that he was in pain from working in the Coke factory, a pain usually reserved for mature men.
