In the final analysis, an ideological impetus and the struggle for power were the main reasons for the inception of the Cultural Revolution.
This revolution brought about many dramatic changes in the society that had mainly negative social and economic consequences. However, it is also possible that the excesses and failures of the Cultural Revolution have taught the Chinese many hard-won lessons and shaped the country into its present status as a world power to contend with......
