Cloud Computing

Today's and tomorrow's technologies and their impact on society has been brought by the development of a new technology which is referred as cloud computing. Cloud computing are techniques and common technologies that are used in Information Technology. It means data which are hosted in a given area (center) then it is dismissed without knowing the design of hosting known as utility computing which tends to permits near real time and a policy-based control of the computing resources. This form of technology normally represents different ways of remotely managing computing resources, for example, there is an establishment of an account with the Google group to build and deploy application systems into the cloud. The system are not restricted to being simplistic however, they ought to be since they can be the applications of the web which only requires http services as well as, relational database. This paper therefore analyzes cloud computing in relation to today's and tomorrow's technology and their impact on the society.

Technology in society has been changing every day. About 40 years ago, everyone was hooked to mainframe computers that had dumb terminals, and this is where their data processing was majorly done. As the world revolved, most people moved to decentralized model, which brought high potentials of individuality creativity because of powerful processors which came in. Today, most people have shift to cloud computing, where they use server-side web technologies in checking at their inventories, checking data or information from remote equipment, as well as, conducting commerce. Instead of them using the single frames they use to have, technology has changed and now they use lots of computing hosts which are smaller. By moving the data to the cloud, it becomes easier for people to just access the data that they may need. Cloud computing as a new technology has brought a great impact to today's and tomorrow's society (Ganster, 2009).

Impacts of Cloud Computing in the Society

Privacy: Most people put their data on the cloud and they really don't know if there data are in fact safe on the server given that the data is managed by someone else. Not all people are familiar of how they can secure their home computers. It is also true that, warehouses with large data are exposed more than the home computers viruses. This kind of data storage in the cloud has brought harm than no good to today's society and hopefully it will still affect the society of tomorrow.

Ubiquity: Cloud computing has brought a significant change in the society because, what people could only do on high-end desktops can now be done by use of cell phones or whatever which may be invented in the coming years and everything can conceivably be done today without any problem. Today, people can chat, they can email, they can play games online, they can stream movies and they can also publish documents. All these can be done by upgrading the equipments every year to save money in tomorrow's use, while shifting the market to a successful cloud service provider. Clouds computing also enable people to have access from different places as compared to those days when people were to look for modems modem to use.

Economically: Today, only a few real contenders deliver real internet to services the people. This is because of fewer chokepoints of competition. However, as the needs of the consumers' scales up, no one will be the real provider given that they will not be in a position of knowing how much to charge when they will get the control of the market. This happen same for the software and hardware. If people don't allow the cutting edge phones for example the Apple, then the manufacturers will definitely wither away and cloud providers such as Amazon, software providers and Google will continue to run the server firms. Waste: The demand for consumer electronics has reached a peak in some countries like the United States.

A research has shown that, people throw away many consumer electronics which are just about the same with the tonnage of the consumer electronics they still buy. It is evident from most states since they have started segregating this kind of waste as being hazardous, and therefore the level of recycling is required. Hardware is important to people in the society and if people don't need them in the society, they will definitely see a short increase in waste as well as, a decrease as smaller devices will be less frequently bought (Buyya, Broberg, & Gos-cin-ski, 2011).

Developing Nations: Cloud computing is also used in developing nations. Today there are many laptops foundations that are used by most people which are so great. Today, all the old and new laptop machines are able to access the computing power as well as, the data storage that was ever needed in the society. Moreover, most virus have been avoided from the local machines because there is no need of storing the data in local machines, however, they store them in the cloud (Buyya, Broberg, & Gos-cin-ski, 2011).

Personally: Today, cloud computing has enabled the society to have a backup in the space. Personal documents like photos, phone books when get lost, they can still be retrieved on the cloud if they were cloud computed. There have been also less excuses of late delivery of mails given that all these are stored in the cloud. The cloud has enabled the small, the medium and the large business in outsourcing non-strategic information technology. It also gives most of the businesses an opportunity of making investments in IT more strategic as well as delivering a better return on the investment (Buyya, Broberg, & Gos-cin-ski, 2011).

Features and Implications of Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is provided as a software service on-demand to the clients. Its impact is majorly spectacular on the consumers as well as the firms. Cloud computing has enabled the consumers of today to access their documents from any devices such as personal laptops and mobile phones, however firms will manage to rent the computing for example, the hardware and the software in addition to storage from the service providers. The former application will affect tomorrow's technology and lifestyles of the society, but there will be an impact of cost reductions on software industry (Ganster, 2009).

Cloud computing as a new technology in the society will help the companies to create new platforms for attracting the customers from the software and the hardware they have been investing from. The cloud platform provides services for creating the applications which are used for competitions. The cloud computing platforms are also able to support different multiple users at a wider scale such as the internet scale. Cloud computing is seen to be a step in commoditization of information technology investment (Ganster, 2009).

But according to the Economist (2008): "cloud computing is unlikely to bring about quite such a dramatic shift. In essence, what it does is take the idea of distributed computing a step farther. Still, it will add a couple of layers to the IT stack. One is made up of the cloud providers, such as Amazon and Google. The other is software that helps firms to turn their IT infrastructure into their own cloud, known as a 'virtual operating system for data centers' . . . Will this prospective platform war produce a dominant company in the mould of IBM or Microsoft that is able to extract more than its fair share of the profits? Probably not, because it will be relatively easy to switch between vendors... Nor is it likely that one firm will manage to build a global cloud monopoly. Although there are important economies of scale in building a network of data centers, the computing needs of companies and consumers vary….....
