Diabetes is a very dangerous problem for people all over the world (Butler, 2015). It has roots in obesity, poor diet and lack of exercise (Davis, 2008). It needs to be addressed as it is a serious health issue that is affecting even school children today (Flynn, McNeil, et al., 2005). If the problem of diabetes and obesity is not addressed, many lives will be negatively impacted. This study will be important to everyone who is suffering either directly or indirectly from diabetes/obesity. If loved ones are obese and could develop diabetes, this study will be important to them and those who care for them. As a societal issue, it should also be a concern because policies can be implemented if the issue is better understood.

The research question is: How can the relationship between obesity and diabetes be addressed in order to reduce the risk of diabetes in communities?
