The audience of each of these works, is clearly the professor, but it is also clear that the different essays can be read by my peers as constructive examples of thesis building and the various revisions can show the pitfalls of writing as well as the success of building evidentiary interpretations. The introduction paragraph of the poetry piece is a perfect example of this idea, as I had to remove the passive voice to build the style of my essay and make the thesis more clear to the reader. In each subsequent rewording of the essay I have demonstrate how to develop a better statement of the main theme of a work, and a whole body of works that one might not understand if they are reading the individual works independently and are looking at the intensity of events without connecting them to other examples of the thematic goal of remembrance and political narrative.

One interesting aspect of looking at all these works, in and out of their various contexts, is the fact that it gives the reader of the essays and the works a better sense of the fact that writing is frequently a very intimate political statement, and this is not something I completely grasped at the onset of the course, though it could also simply give evidence to the fact that I as a writer tend to seek out the personal political messages in writing. Either way it makes the topics interesting or I believe gives new understanding, at least for myself as to why people write and why it is important to read works by others, as a way to understand the world and the mind.

Creating essays that discuss many different genres has helped me better understand each genre and how it changes the readers perception of the work. It has also helped me to discuss the works within the context of their authorship, and the vents described in them. I think now and in the future it will help me to better produce works in different genres.

The message of many pieces of my own writing has been thematic, which gives me a connection to historical writing and historical genre, which I never had before. I would likely never have gone back and reread Hamlet, from this point-of-view if I had not had the assignment to do so and this fresh reading made me much more aware of the modern application of the work. I would also not have been likely to understand poetry as political, had I not been assigned this topic, as poetry is not really something I have liked to read in the past, but now that I have done so for this essay I may actually even begin to write it myself, to better order my thoughts about experiences I feel have been unfair. Lastly, though I had some idea about the nature of feminine writing during the 19th century, writing this essay, in addition to exposing me to new reading material, supported the idea that there are subtle demands for change in the works, even though they are not always as direct as they could be.

In general the process of reading, collecting evidence, writing on a theme, and frequently revising this writing to make a stronger point has helped me develop a greater sense of the process of criticism and genre development. I feel very strongly that the readings I did of these five works, as well as the secondary sources, has helped me develop a stronger idea of the creative pursuit as a political act. My skills as a writer and a discerning reader have improved greatly, as I have developed a better sense of thesis possibilities in the main themes of works. I think these three works, are examples of my development as a writer and a literary critic or varied genres and topics and given me a much better sense of why people write and why others read their works......
