Shoe Project -- Phase II

Project/Service Description

As noted in the first phase of this series of reports, the objective of the Adidas customized shoe project is to offer a solution that brings Adidas into the same realm as its competitors while at the same time exceeding the similar offerings that the competitors offer. The Nike ID offering is obviously not unlike that of the Adidas offering but the Adidas Corporation will perfect and hone the offering in such a way that is clearly superior to that of Nike and other companies that offer a customized shoe option.

Project Scope

The scope of the project is quite simple. Adidas corporation will construct and develop a framework that allows for the exhaustive yet efficient mechanism for customer to custom-order shoes that are customized to the preferences and desires of the customer while at the same time allowing for a process that keeps costs down for the company so that costs can be kept lower for the end-buyer. The combination of a customized shoe and the offering of this service at a reasonable cost will be key to the project's success. The scope will be any and all existing and new frameworks required to make the project work and will require process reengineering and process creation. The work will not end when the offering is up and running as processes and procedures will need to be perfected based on how well-received and efficient the process is once it is up and running.

Project Proposal for Contract

The authors of this report propose that the project move forward as Adidas is certainly on par with Nike and other companies offering this product and there is an obvious market demand. This project is planned in such a way so that the product can be made to the customers' specifications while at the same time allowing for said product to be made in a profitable and expedient manner.

Functional Characteristics & Attributes

The characteristics of the project and the ensuing service are fairly basic in nature. Rather than a mass-produced model, as is the common business model, each set of customized shoes will have the same basic characteristics but the coloring, design and a few other minor details will be chosen by the individual buyer. As for how this will manifest on the back-end, there will be a base shoe or series of shoes that will underpin each customization. As much as can be repeated and recycled on many to most orders will be to keep costs down.

High Level Specifications, Requirements & Project Deliverables

At a higher level, the requirements for the client-facing portion of the deliverables, described shortly, is an in-person option to order the customized shoes and an online option as well. The in-person option will have a touch-screen where the shoe itself and the associated colors can be chosen. The online option will be similar except it will be based on internet/web access options through a web browser. Regardless of how the customer chooses to order, the high level overview of the system is to provide error-free order-taking and order processing at the relevant factory once the order is placed. The deliverables of this project is the client-facing mechanisms and materials to make the orders and the back-end processes and systems to replace said orders.

Market & Opportunity Analysis

Need Analysis & Evidence of Review
