My life has definitely changed since the accident. Besides not liking to drive, I am more protective of my friends and family. I never let them walk away without telling them that I care about them, because I have learned that you never know what the next second can bring. All it took was a second for my friend to be gone, so I know that is true. I want the people that I love to know it, and I am not afraid to tell them so. I did not tell her how much she meant to me before she died, and I still regret it.

Most of all, my life has gone in a different direction since my friend died. Before, I was drifting, and I was not really sure what I wanted to do with my life. I was not even sure that I wanted to go to college. After she died, I studied harder, and got a scholarship so I could continue my education. I decided that I needed time to think about my future, but I knew it would include education, and maybe even an advanced degree.

My friend wanted to be a veterinarian, and she was headed in the right direction. She was always sure of her path, and I decided I wanted that surety in my life, too. She inspired me to do better in school, and to find the right path for myself. I am still not sure exactly what my major will be, but I know that when I find it, I will pursue it with all the gusto my friend had for life and her future. I know that if my friend had not been killed that day, I would not be in school right now. I would probably be working at McDonald's or something, and wondering what to do with my life. My life changed when my friend died. Part of me will never be the same without her. I know that she would be happy to know that she inspired someone, and that her life made a difference in my life. I miss her, but I am grateful to her, for setting in motion a different path and motion for my life......
