Normally, competition impacts the price that is set by a company and also has a declining impact on the revenues and profits generated. The economic concept of perfect competition has been developed and formulated in a way that no seller can continue gaining revenue and profits similar to a monopoly at the expense of the general public while at the similar point in time no party experiences a loss, neither the sellers or the general public.
Therefore, in this market, the competition impacts the firm’s capability to sell for a price that permits it to cover costs and at the same time still generate a margin. In perfect competition, all firms are price takers and therefore have no impact on the market price.
