In terms of theoretical sociological approach, it is hard to see Steve Striffler as anything but an anti-positivist. In his approach, a precise analysis of "Mexican" as an ideal type, even though Laotians and Marshallese were included in the group, even Striffler was "almost Mexican" due to his presence amongst the workers not just on the floor of the processing plant, but sharing their experiences and stories in the break room where the white managers never bother to go (Striffler 2006, 108). This approach of the ideal type would utilize Max Weber's theoretical approach of the ideal type, which would explain how powerful the "Mexican" sociological influence was upon the non-management plant workers, even though other immigrant groups were not Mexican.
