Emotional Intelligence and Patient Care


One of the most critical aspects of nursing is patient-centered care, which requires empathy, active listening, and effective communication. Nurses with high emotional intelligence can better understand patients’ emotional and psychological needs, improving trust and patient satisfaction (Gamage & Sudusinghe, 2024). Nurses with high EI can recognize their colleagues’ emotional states and respond empathetically, leading to better teamwork and reduced interpersonal tensions.
