For such crucial areas as writing instruction, the simple use of email can prove to render this effect. To the point, one article indicates to us that "writing in itself is often considered a process that involves four main stages i.e., planning, drafting, revising and editing. These four steps seem to be applicable for paper-based writing as well as for e-mail writing. They can be integrated to form the electronic-based tutorials." (Article?, 1)

The application of this technology can be crucial not just for imposing practice and application of an evolving skill but also for helping to reinforce the centrality of writing in using the medium effectively. Such instruction tends to inform a reciprocal relationship between learned expressive insights and their practical applications in terms of inducing a culture as well. With the internet, the flexibility enabled by email composition and other facets of writing uniquely facilitated in this context can be significantly useful to the ESL student. The applications are manifold, with Leibowitz (1999) observing that via internet methods of education, "drafts of papers can be e-mailed to professors, and sensitive critiques can be delivered the same way, in a medium that is conducive to private "conversations.
" In computer-equipped classrooms, assignments can be easily distributed among students or posted in a collective electronic space. Students' work can be published on the World-Wide Web, attracting feedback from readers elsewhere who may be neither peers nor professors -- and exposing the students to a wider variety of opinions." (Leibowitz, A67)

These considerations noted, the greatest prospect will arise when the resources identified here are availability with even greater universality. Today, the so-called 'digital divide' reflects the idea that socio-economic status is directly proportional to computer and internet access, both at school and at home. So long as this divide exists, the prospects of computing to education for ESL and mainstream students alike will continue to be unmet. Therefore, it is hoped that the future of technology mediated-education will be characterized by even wider proliferation and economic accessibility. Our research demonstrates that the opportunities for educational enhancement in ESL instruction are demonstrable and considerable in the video computing technologies available today. With certainty, the future holds only greater innovation. Linguistic education will benefit most when these enhancements become available to all.
