She was struggling with a bag of dog food and I helped her get it in the car. She was surprised by my wanting to help her, but very appreciative. As I was bringing my cart back to the location for carts, I grabbed another that was taking up a parking space and I brought it with me to the cart location. I thought someone would want to park there and wouldn't be able to because of the cart.

While I walked on the sidewalk during the middle of the day I also saw a homeless man with a cup for money. I was going into Starbucks and I didn't have any change or cash on me and so I asked him if I could buy him something to eat or drink. He said that he would love a hot coffee and something sweet to eat. I bought him a coffee and a muffin and gave it to him when I returned outside. He seemed genuinely appreciative (and then he asked me if I put any sugar in the coffee -- I hadn't, so I went back in and did so). I didn't mind doing this thing for the man and I thought about how I take for granted being able to go and buy a cup of coffee from Starbucks whenever I want. I feel like a cup of coffee and a treat made his day -- much more so than if I had dropped a few quarters into his cup.
When I left he said "God bless you" and it made me feel good about myself, but I tried not to let it go to my head too much (after all, this is part of a class assignment).

On a scale of 1 to 10, I feel like I achieved some good random acts of kindness that would probably rank about a 5 on a scale. I wasn't out helping kids on skid row or anything, but I was doing nice things for people and hopefully those nice things will make others feel happy and inspired to do nice things as well......
