As mentioned above, lawsuits had been mostly settled outside the court which was a wrong policy since it only helped the organization continue with its defective products. It would have been much better if these problems were immediately taken care of and if consumers were taken into confidence concerning defective products.

Recommendation/Conclusion:

The firm needs to change its response policies in times of crisis.

For one it must understand what is meant by social responsibility and prepare a clear mission statement that takes this into consideration. The firm must establish a crystal clear policy on ethics. The employees should know where the firm stands where ethical problems are concerned.

The firm must also understand that blaming others is the surefire way of earning public disfavor and distrust.
Even in cases where others are at fault too, an organization that wants to win public's trust should only focus on the areas where it had failed the consumers.

Media's interest must not be underestimated. In fact this interest can be used to your advantage with correct strategies.

Your firm should always believe in instant recall of products if they are found to be faulty.

Your CEO must then issue careful and responsible statements of the subject.

To improve image, the firm should then start working on regaining public favor and trust. A quick and effective public relations program should be immediately put to use when such crisis strike......
