When firing or releasing employees it is very important to remember the humanity of the situation and present an honorable and distinguished front when relaying this information to subordinates and those soon to be fired. In this example, nearly 20% of the staff will be informed of their termination at this meeting. To accomplish this meeting in the best way possible it is wise to understand the entirety of the situation.

In any meeting it is important to build rapport with the audience and seek to communicate at their current level of emotional and intellectual understanding. In this case, the situation will no doubt be awkward and many emotions may be running high due to this stress. It is of the utmost importance and highest priority to uphold the dignity of those being fired and demonstrate care and respect.
