Question 1. Sarkozy has a number of different problems to deal with. The biggest problem is the racial harmony question, as France is faced with immigrants from all over Africa and this is causing social problems.

The French seem to have an identity issue over who, exactly, is French and are challenged in particular by the six million Muslims in the country. A more pressing short-run issue is with the state of the economy. France has a GDP growth rate of nothing, declining industrial production, rising unemployment, a substantial deficit and a high load of debt/GDP. All of these metrics are moving in the wrong direction. Along the way, Sarkozy should address the EU/Eurozone and its role within that union, given the problems that are driving economic trouble within the Eurozone in particular are spread through several countries, putting the country in an more vulnerable position. France must also continue to move forward with economic development to find new solutions that will drive the country forward in the 21st century.
