Barbour and Dyson's ideas about freedom and social justice, how these ideas relate to technology?

Ian Graeme Barbour

Graeme Barbour is a known scholar who relayed the relationship between religion and science. He made cognition that religion is related to science in various ways. In his "critical realism" term, Graeme Barbour exemplified that religion and science shares certain similarities and differences in their basic structures. This is in relation to the subjective and objective features in religion and science. For instance, the two bodies entangle subjective entities like comprehensible theories dealing with falsification, theory, and non-relevance to rules in choosing paradigms. Moreover, religion and science relate on objective features like related data, evidence that support or dispute a theory, and criteria dependent on the paradigms used.

Graeme Barbour's ideas are related to technology. Graeme Barbour considers critical realism in relation to the interpretation of theories of science, most of which are relayed through practical exemplifications. For instance, naive realism and instrumentalism are related to technological applications used in computer and the Internet.
Through technological approaches, Graeme Barbour perceives that scientific theories yield abstract, particle, and referenced knowledge through its models and metaphors. Graeme Barbour lays most of his comparisons to methods of research and inquiry. Through this, he managed to explore theological meanings in the big bang theory and quantum physics. His lectures extended to agriculture, computers, cloning, energy, and technology policies in the human society. Therefore, most of his teachings and theories were related to technology (Barbour, 2008).

Freeman Dyson

Dyson brings out the real meaning and magnitude of pessimism clued to technology in the world. He takes an optimistic approach to technology. Through this, he regards technology as a mixed blessing that has both sides. Through technology, man has shifted from social injustices to social justice.
