My research question would be to define the cause of injuries to players in football during competition and training

I would need to limit this question to a specific population, a specific age, individuals who have received a similar level and intensity of training, and, ideally, individuals under one structure, such as individuals competing in various sports in a school / college environment.

My qualitative method would employ surveys, focus groups, and open-ended questions centering on aspects that resulted in injuries, patterns of life that are evidenced by individuals most prone to injuries over a certain amount of time, other significant patterns that evidence themselves in relation to these injuries, environments that these injuries most often occur in, weather conditions that may impact injuries and so forth.

I may even run a meta-analysis of research studies where injuries in a football context occurred and assess comparisons and similarities to se whether any significant patterns emerge.

Another option would be to assess relevant data on a specific football team that has been collected over a certain segment of time, whilst I may integrate these approaches with a cohort observational study where I, in conjunction with other researchers, may observe a team that has a reputation for experiencing a high rate of injuries and compare that with a team -- similarly matched -- that has a reputation for safety.
