The two writers continue, "As psychologists move increasingly into the area of general health and primary care, such interdisciplinary work will be even more common" (Fowler & Newman, 2004, p. 125). This interdisciplinary work will blur the lines between psychology, philosophy, and other areas, in addition, many people seem to think.

Another area of psychology that could change in the future is the "feminization" of psychology, with many more women becoming involved in all areas of the field. Traditionally, psychologists have been predominately male, and males, Freud and Jung and others started the field. Of course, there are female psychologists, in fact, there are more women graduating today with psychology degrees than men. Two other writers note, "In Western countries, the percentage of female undergraduates ranges from approximately 66% in the United States to 84% in the United Kingdom, and 80% of baccalaureates in Spain are awarded to women" (Stevens & Wedding, 2004, p. 489). However, many experts believe that more females will enter and even dominate the field in the future, leading to a "feminization" of the field that could change some aspects of it.
This applies globally, as well, as more women around the world will enter the field as it becomes more accepted in their specific countries.

In conclusion, it is clear that psychology is not a static profession, and that it will continue to grow, change, and thrive in the future. As it becomes more accepted in many areas of the world, the field will gain new members, but more than that, it will continue to change its perspective, outlook, and methods to help treat people and their mental needs for centuries to come......
