murders, the evidence that the court presented did not provide confirmation of Hart's involvement. The first bit of evidence, that at the time was believed to be true, was Hart's vasectomy. If he had a successful vasectomy, no semen could be ejaculated from the sexual act, yet there was semen found in the bodies of the young girls. The second is, the footprints and the shoe prints did not match Hart's. With all of this evidence pointing away from Hart, it clearly shows prosecutors did not have a solid case against Hart, which is why he was later acquitted due to lack of physical evidence. While the attacks on the pregnant women were similar and the photos that police found pointed to Gray, all of that was not enough to convict him.

The police did not plant any evidence that made Hart look like the criminal. There was no conspiracy either. Simply put, he already had a criminal history that involved sexual assault and he lived near the camp grounds. Common sense would make a person of interest in the case and a main suspect. The fact he was Cherokee was not pertinent to the case nor was it the main reason why he was arrested in the first place.

It was simply ludicrous people had fundraised to get Hart a good defense attorney. Even if he did not rape the girls, he was convicted of raping two pregnant women. So regardless of whether or not he was guilty, he was proven guilty of a fairly horrific act. The media and the fact that it felt like they were trying to pin everything on a Cherokee made him more of a victim than he truly is and that is what garnered support for his cause. Even though in reality he is a terrible man that did awful things, because of this whole race thing introduced into the case, he was able to gain sympathy.

The media really highlighted the fact that he was Cherokee. Had they stayed neutral in the case, and most of all respected the families of the girls, they would have not created such support for Hart who in the end was severely unstable. The depictions of Hart in the media led people to believe he was innocent. However, the lack of physical evidence is what truly gained him the acquittal.
