grandmother fostered in me the belief that helping others will improve my character, and after serving in several organizations I know she is right. Helping others involves hard work and dedication, but I find myself personally energized by the endeavor. Through my school, I found out about a program serving poor people in the Bronx. That was when I first became really involved with a charitable organization. We worked directly with the people in need, handing them food, items of clothing, and information. I also learned about how these types of organizations are run, which is why I have decided that I want to pursue an education in business. The future of business is in the global marketplace, and it involves ethical practices that help make the world a better place. Students like me are going to be the entrepreneurs of the future, which will help the millions of people around the world who are poor. My vision is to improve the link between business and charity, so that all major companies have an easy way to donate resources.

This is why I know that I will continue to help others in the future, and perhaps incorporate a charitable business model into the development of a philanthropic organization. First, I need to go to college. I am a high school student who has a high degree of maturity and experience relative to my peers. I owe much of what I know now to my grandmother, but I also attribute much of my knowledge and good attitude to my teachers.

Teachers have helped me to write better, and to become a better speaker. In college, I hope to develop my writing and speaking skills because I know these will be important when I start a business.

Recently I had the opportunity to develop my knowledge about the world, and went abroad to Egypt with an organization called Care for Needy Copts. This organization is especially important in this time, because of the political turmoil in Egypt. I went because I understand I am in a position to help others, as my life is relatively easy compared with the lives of those living in Egypt. Christians in Egypt are suffering especially from persecution as well as poverty. Care for Needy Copts provides many different services to the Coptic community including medical services and housing repair or construction. I saw the amazing amount of work that goes into running an organization of this type. Instead of being frightened by it, I was motivated to do more and try to help. I intend to again work for Care for Needy Copts when I can during times I am away from school.

I want to study business because I believe I will excel in this line of study. I am a natural leader, who is good with other people. My communication skills are strong, and I have worked with people from many different cultures both in the Bronx and in Egypt. It is important to have more diversity in the business world. I….....
