Globalization is a process that is mostly invisible but materializes itself in newly formed behaviors and trends that represent cultures from around the globe. In other words, it is the planet learning about itself in many new ways. Technology and rapid transportation has changed the dynamic of the globe in such a way that that globe eventually becomes itself by getting to know and understand itself.

Globalization is neither good nor bad or perhaps both depending on your perspective. Globalization has not reached full potential yet and there are many who will remain locked in their own culture for better or for worse. The problems occur when one cannot recognize what is happening and feels helpless to address the impact of these new behaviors, morals and trends.

For me, I don't really care, because I don't pretend to know the answer of such a big question as to whether the globalization develops or hinders the third world or not. My world is most important and the challenges I face on a day-to-day basis are of much more concern than feeling the burdens of global sympathy. Most of the problems and advantages of this issue are not true and do not represent an accurate picture of the environment so I try to ignore such things on a personal level, but understand the importance of these issues in certain public realms and professions.

According to the American Institute of CPAs, the public interest is at heart of accounting and not necessarily the business or organization for whom the accountant works for. This is expressly written in the Code of Conduct of this organization which stated "a distinguished mark of a profession is acceptance of its responsibility to the public." While often times this may seem counter intuitive and not serving an individual accountants best interests, in the long run it does.

The accountants for Enron, in the short-term, were very successful and by showing allegiance to their bosses, received much compensation and reward for acting unethically, This may be the case for many businesses, but those accountants and professionals associated with that scandal have tarnished not only their personal reputations, but the profession's as well.

Accounting is public service. It is robotic and unemotional. Accountants should be professional and act not out of emotion, but using their duty to service to guide their behaviors. Avoiding huge scandals like Enron should….....
