Cities, Suburbs, And Rural Areas

Rural areas are geographic areas located away from suburbs and cities, often characterized by a small population and abundant natural resources. Currently, in the U.S., rural residents make up 16% of the entire population - as compared to 17% in 1910. This implies that poor job opportunities and lack of skills that are evident in these areas have pushed people into towns and cities. Suburban areas are residential areas often situated on the outskirts of major cities. Although they have more residents, they have fewer resources as compared to rural areas. The current population in the suburbs has increased to 51%, something that has never been witnessed before. Cities in the U.S. are the largest areas of settlement and are often congested due to high population. The National Center for Education statistics reported that 33% of Americans currently live in the cities. Some of the characteristics of cities include good working conditions and political autonomy.

The projections of the Census Bureau show that immigration is increasing and come 2027, it will be more responsible for the growth of the U.S. population than maternal deliveries, as fewer Americans are having babies.

Despite the global changes, Americans value for their cultural identity will not change. People will keep away from others with different cultural identities and social problems like prejudice, gender inequality, and racism are bound to increase with increased self-aggregation.

Utilization review (UR) protects patients from inappropriate healthcare practices by allowing health care providers to consider different factors when dealing with different patients. These include: accessible service, good quality service and care, making informed decisions and providing the necessary medical care. Medical necessity is regarded highly in UR and procedures that may put a patient's health in danger are, sometimes, not seen through. In the scenario given, the patient's surgical procedure is denied….....
