One weekend, not so long ago, Steve went with his family to visit his grandmother, who lived far out in the countryside in a huge two story house with more windows than he could count. The roof scaled up to a peak that resembled a tower that one might see on a castle.

When Steve got bored, as he always did when he was around grown-ups, he climbed the stairs to the top floor of the house, to the attic in the tower. There, he always found interesting things to look at, play with and explore. There were several old trunks filled with tons of family memorabilia. His grandfather had been an anthropologist and at one time had even worked in some tombs in Egypt. His grandfather's things were packed away in several boxes in the far left corner of the attic, and although Steve knew he was never supposed to open them, today, for some reason, he decided to see what was in them.

The first box he opened was just a bunch of documents and letters that all looked pretty boring, but the next box he opened was filled with artifacts, obviously objects his grandfather had brought back from his expeditions in Egypt.
One object that Steve picked up was a gold box, and inside was a mirror covered in symbols, and with it was a piece of very old paper, sort of like a scroll, on which were written a series of letters and numbers. As Steve read the writing out loud, he happened to glance over at a magazine cover laying on the floor. Then all of a sudden, Steve was no longer in his grandmother's attic. He had traveled to some sort of construction site, with a half-built castle. Had the mirror and the ancient scroll created some sort of transportation? Had Steve accidentally stumbled upon some sort of ancient time machine?

As he walked around, he only encountered one other human being, a tall man who seemed quite busy and engrossed in his work. The man was dressed in a white shirt, a sky blue sweater and gray trousers that looked like pants he had seen in pictures of….....
