What I hope to gain from attending College

It was my childhood dream to study in a college like my older siblings and cousins. Now when the time has arrived to start studying in a college, I have already started to try to behave like an older adult. I have huge expectations from this time of my academic life. It is said that college is a time to discover one's own individuality which is full of experimentations and successes both. I understand that, it is the time to start working to achieve my goals for a bright professional life in future. It is the time to create lifelong memories and new pals. I am mentally prepared that first year of my college may accompany both positive and negative experiences, that may bring eternal changes in me.

I was a brilliant student in high school. Everything seemed too achievable. Hence coming to the college, I do not anticipate that things would be much difficult for me. But in order to keep up my academic achievements, I have been told by my seniors to remember two things. First, there is nothing in this world that comes easy and it is more important to learn the material than achieving good grades and knowing nothing.

I anticipate, my most immediate and major challenge will be to reallocate myself from learning simple things under constant supervision of my teachers to learning a huge set of complex things by taking my own initiative. In the beginning this change may leave me feeling completely lost and less certain in my ability to take effective decisions.

In order to achieve my long-term goals what I need in the current and upcoming environment is very obvious. My most immediate goal is to be able to take appropriate and well-planned decisions in small amount of time that should bring good results for my current academic and prospective professional life both. By understanding most current academic and professional trends more closely I will be able to achieve my goals in more efficient manner.
