Hourly Rounds Effectiveness as a Solution

The proposed solution of increasing and monitoring hourly nursing rounds to help reduce falls, prevent ulcers and increased call light use is being brought into question in this essay to highlight its effectiveness as a means to address these types and related problems. This essay will explain the methods and variables needed in this strategy in order to fairly and honestly judge the quality of research in this effort.

Any method must approach this subject from both a qualitative and quantitative standpoint in order to hold any true value in the practical world. The ability to successfully quantify subjective variables will be an underlying aim throughout this research as many components of an hourly round is subjective in nature. The quantitative aspects of this research effort are simple and plain to see and provides the ability to provide strong empirical evidence. The hypothesis is also helpful in guiding the strategy within the methods since it lays out simple causal relationships in its phrasing.

The primary tasks in this research is to measure specific outcomes against a proposed change. The cause and effect relationship of providing strict hourly rounds is fairly simple in many aspects. The quality of these rounds however provides some issues for the consistency of the results and these types of scientific data gathering efforts must be combined with other more subjective tools to garner a clearer view to the problem at hand.

Subjectively-based surveys can be created to help supplement this research and provide needed details about the rounds themselves and how nurses and nursing managers attitudes are impacted upon the practice of hourly rounds.
Measuring attitudes and perspectives requires creating a questionnaire that reveals key ideas that can be interpreted and measured with accuracy and statistical acumen. Key data that must be gathered includes identifying fall rates, ulcers and call light use in the environments that are to be tested. These measurements will significantly impact the argument and provide an answer to the research questions at hand. Incorporating a strong literature review can also impact the research by appealing to this past evidence and weaving it into the narrative of the research paper.

The overall strategy of the various research methods being employed in this effort must aim to find valid and honest results. The challenging and inherent problem of removing bias and subjective tendencies can be very difficult for the researcher so a strong incorporation of analytical and logical processes must accompany….....
