It is estimated that 22 million children are stunted in their growth worldwide.

Economic consequences: it is estimated that 67 million children are malnourished which effectively means they will not achieve the expected schooling level like any average child, and if they do, it could be late. The repercussion of that is that they will not be able to earn at equal rate as other age mates who are not malnourished, with a continued cycle, he economy of the society will end up suffering.

In order to bring an end to hunger in the world, there should be systems put in place that protect the weak and vulnerable from organized rogue groups and protected multinationals that construe the food production process to their own evil desires.

There should be very well managed and coordinated trade especially on food items so that the third world can reclaim good use of their land hitherto alienated from them just like the developed countries. This will ensure increased food production among the third world countries and the developed world hence no shortage or crisis of transportation.

Hunger can also be fought through growing of foods that are labor-intensive, high in calories/protein since the children need the essential amino acids that are therein.
This way the nutrition among the children will increase hence a possible escape from hunger.

The Genetically Modified foods have proven to be resistant to severe weather conditions. It is apparent that most areas affected by drought are prone to severe droughts and crops that do with little rain and mature faster like the genetically modified GT maize could, if adopted by countries, be of great alleviation to the drought problem (GMO Compass, 2008). However the GMO products are still widely contested in majority of the drought stricken countries.

There is a huge waste of stored foods due to poor storage condition. Maize is annually discarded yearly due to excessive moisture, milk spilt in thousands of liters due to lack of refrigeration provision and so on. If this could be combated then we could have fewer hunger cases.

The society should strive for a better world where the available food is shared equitably and hunger is effectively stamped out.
