Wolfe's illustrative work is a contemporary look backwards. His cover illustrations represent modern figures, but with a vintage twist, his Muhammad Ali cover for Rolling Stone is a great example of this (see Image B). With his work, he created a link between modern figures and older American traditions seen near the turn of the century. Thus, his work glorified many modern figures with the same esteem seen in the Victorian vintage fashion, truly solidifying their position as major figures in American history.
