Five pages cannot do any justice to the remarkable life and career of John Franklin Hope. He has done so many things in his life that we are forever indebted to him and his struggles.
He is an inspiration to African-Americans -- and not only. He championed the rights of African-Americans all his life. Thanks to Franklin and activists like him, we have better understanding of African-American history. Thanks to him, we have African-American Studies across our country. And thanks to him, we can learn to be better scholars and better human beings.
