In Cultural Ethical Relativism, Universalism, Absolutism (2005), it was mentioned that Kant said that people engage a particular space in creation and morality can be figured out in one supreme directive of reason or imperative that all responsibilities and duties drawn from; Kant described an imperative as any intention which asserts a particular act or inaction to be compulsory; a hypothetical imperative requires action in a particular condition: "if I wish to quench my thirst, I must drink something;" -- a categorical imperative, in contrast, indicates an absolute, unconditional obligation that states its influence in all conditions, both necessary as well as justified as an end in itself; and it is most recognized in its first expression: "Act only according to that maxim whereby you can at the same time will that it should become a universal law."

In Cultural Ethical Relativism, Universalism, Absolutism (2005), it was stated that Kant expressed tremendous displeasure with the popular moral philosophy during his day, deeming that it can never exceed the level of theoretical obligations: a utilitarian says that murder is wrong for the reason that it does not make the most of good for the maximum number of people, however this is immaterial to a person who is troubled merely with taking the full advantage of the positive outcome for themselves; as a result, Kant disagreed that the hypothetical moral systems cannot influence moral act or be considered as foundation for moral opinion opposed to others, since the imperatives that they are establish rely too heavily on subjective considerations; Kant offered a deontological moral system, founded on the stresses of the categorical imperative, as an option.
