Dear Sir/Madam

With this letter, I would like to express my interest in serving in the United States Navy as an Engineering Duty Officer (EDO).

I have a Masters Degree in System Engineering and recently graduated with a Doctorate Degree in Management in Environment and Social Sustainability.

My motivation for applying for this opportunity is because I would like to give back to the United States for enabling me receive high-quality education. The opportunity to serve as an EDO in the United States Navy will help me to further develop my civilian education, experience and skills in a way that will contribute to the betterment of officer corps. Besides, I will develop my professional and leadership skills through engaging in individual projects assigned to me or when working in a team towards building esprit de corps.

In terms of interpersonal communication, I will support my fellow service members, my peers, and my superiors by taking initiative and offering help whenever possible. I am a good team player capable of considering and evaluating different views and assuming leadership when necessary. Additionally, I have the ability to persuade and motivate others through developing good relationships that are based on mutual understanding and trust.

My educational background and professional experiences have helped me develop the technical and tactical proficiencies needed to be a commissioned officer. I have worked as a wide body aircraft mechanic and quality control inspector responsible for more than 100 technicians at Aircraft Repair Stations since 2002. Moreover, I have been tutoring several college students in Chemistry, Physical Sciences, and Mathematics since 2011. I have also been a junior enlisted service member, which has helped me acquire knowledge, work ethics and values to train and lead my shipmates.

Through these opportunities, I have developed the necessary competencies in leadership, management, organization, and multi-cultural skills that will be helpful in serving my country as an Engineering Duty Officer in the United States Navy.

As a Naval Engineering Duty Officer, I will serve as a team leader by sharing my knowledge with my teammates and will be responsible for the safety and well-being of service members assigned to me and those above me. I believe in leading by example, living the Navy Values, and My Motivational Statement Since I was a young child, I have always admired the United States military.

I have always had a deep sense of pride in my country and believed that one day I too would find myself in the United States military. Today, I am a member of the Army enlisted corps. I serve with honorable junior enlisted and Non-Commissioned Officers who deserve great respect. I am ready to take what I have learned from the enlisted corps and move forward in my efforts to expand my knowledge and abilities by becoming a commissioned officer in the United States Army. I am highly believe that my professional experience in leadership, management, organization, and multi- cultural skills will be helpful in serving my country as an officer in the United States Army. As a civilian in 2007, I was a plant manager for an animal feed producing corporation. I was responsible for sixty workers. In 2009, I taught Chemistry, Geology, Physical Sciences, and Physics for Shades Valley High School in Alabama. While there, I was responsible for the education, training, and mentorship of over 300 students. As a Soldier I served in team leader and squad leader positions, responsible for the safety and well-being of service members assigned to me. I believe being an enlisted member will help me in becoming an effective officer that understands soldiers.
