So, the concept is there that since corporations would perish without profits, they exist only to make money. We do not live to eat rather we eat to live. Similarly corporations like living organisms cannot continue to discharge their reason for being without profitability but they do not exist just for profits. In the modern times the emphasis moved from mere profits to complete social well being. Now corporations have both ethical and corporate responsibilities. Levi Strauss became an example for others to follow when it made headlines by choosing not to continue business in China because of its human rights abuses and difficult political situation. An organization that chooses to conduct business in a new culture also has to accept the realities there. By accepting human rights abuses in a country the organization might also get involved in the controversies and in the process its reputation could get affected beyond repair.
