Who knew the human heart can contain such capacity to feel both, love and pain, in equal measures if not more. The daughters Olga, Tatiana, Maria, and Anastasia are as lovely as girls can be. Sometimes, they ask me of my family, why I am not married or if I want to, if I am with someone, and if I feel lonely. I tell them I am used to this way of life, being a loner, and should I find somebody, that would be terrific but if I don't, I will not cry about it. The girls' fear they will be alone when they grow up but I tell them, their mother will make sure they are with the richest of princes, and then they giggle and make jokes about boys. The children are all loved and doted on. Despite being a servant, I feel I've made a life and in some odd way, a relationship with the family. Maybe I am naive and delusional but I really feel this way. I have made some friends, some good and some bad, but at the end of the day, I am just lucky to have a job that brings such adequate fortune, a shelter even if it's a communal bedroom, and food on the table.
