Literacy Assessment

The Persona Literacy Survey provided, allowed me to self-analyze my own approaches and philosophies towards the profession of education. The survey did provide some useful information as some of my own ideas on the subject were explored. The General Considerations portion of the survey revealed that I do have some unconventional techniques when assimilating my own reading skills. It is clear from my low ratings on the items that asked about collective learning that I prefer to be very individualistic when teaching myself any subject through literacy practices. Writing tests however comes very easy for me and I scored high on this section as well as the administration portion of the survey. The After Testing section also revealed that I am aligned with many of the principles explored in this area.

My greatest strength in regards to assessment literacy is my ability to empathize and relate what I have written or read to other people. In my own travels I have found that learning is a prevalent and constant practice that never stops despite the aging process.
It is important to realize that even though standards are important, everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses and they should be respected as such. The nature of words and language is tricky at best, so learning is not always clear. For me using my strength of intuition and empathy helps me feel what others are thinking in the classroom and throughout the school.

My greatest weakness in regards to literacy theory deals with authority. Too many times outsiders who have not spent long in a classroom dictate my practices without really knowing the details. This causes problems for me as I tend to feel that this is a slight on my professional abilities. It is important for me to remember that every experience is a learning opportunity and I should embrace others' opinions more in my own professional acumen. To….....
