There are four basic functions that tests are serving. These include: to provide an assessment of the individual's understanding of the material, they are helping to develop critical thinking, it evaluates a person's ability to look at the situation from different viewpoints and it helps everyone to analyze how the material will have an effect on the way they see the world around them. This is important, because the combination of these functions help us to effectively reach out to a host of individuals and to understand if everyone is able to comprehend the material that has been presented.
