The article starts off by stating that mealy bugs are by far one of the more destructive and insidious pests that ravage greenhouses and other indoor plant landscapes. It is noted that the damage they cause can be direct or indirect. What makes the mealy bugs extremely hard to control is that they reside and implant themselves in areas where insecticides have a hard time reaching and, thus, be effective. The article notes that systemic insecticides are the best approach because it is the most likely way to get the insects to ingest a lethal dose of the poison that kills them. Application methods for said insecticides include granular and drench (Willmott, and Cloyd).
