Schizophrenia is a psychiatric diagnosis denoting a persistent, often chronic, mental illness variously affecting behavior, thinking, and emotion. The term schizophrenia comes from the Greek words ? (schizo, split or divide) and (frenos, mind) and is best translated "shattered mind." Psychiatrist Emil Kraepelin was first to make the distinction between what he called dementia praecox and other forms of madness. This classification was later renamed 'schizophrenia' by psychiatrist Eugene Bleuler as it became clear Kraeplin's name was not an adequate description of the conditions. Schizophrenia is a mental disease, which give rise to distorted and complexed behavior. The term schizophrenia was derived and evaluated from the Greek words and since then it has been used to denote 'shattered mind' although the real causes and factors, which give, rise to schizophrenia are not evaluated by the psychiatrists as yet. But they say that schizophrenia is the result of genetic disorders and it includes both negative and positive symptoms. It is regarded as the disorder of the brain because a person acts abnormally due to the presence of the mental disorder known as schizophrenia which emerges due to the lack of interaction between thought processes and perception.

The filmmaker has presented the views and opinions from Deborah's point-of-view and the audiences really gets into the situations and circumstances which Deborah faces.

The movie has presented her sickness, her stages of recovery and her conception of the world. The observation and analysis of the character shows that the disease, which is known as schizophrenia as pictured in the movie, is similar to the schizophrenia in real life. Practically speaking, a patient suffering from schizophrenia is unable to discriminate between the situations of real life and the situations of imagination.
