Setting aside congenital conditions that adversely affect adolescent physical or mental health, adolescents and young adults also face risks related to lifestyle choices. Those risk factors increase among some demographic cohorts, especially low- and middle-income groups. Mental health is a major concern among adolescents and young adults, which is why numerous community-level task forces address these concerns.
