Despite what seems as a more permissive approach regarding the consumption of alcohol or coffee, Catholicism and Mormonism both believe that there should be no sex before marriage and that the example of Christ should be a central example to each believer. Additionally, holiness in the world is a message that both religions put one as an objective we should try to have for our lives and at a global level.

Modesty is probably also a common denominator of both faiths. People should be modest, both in terms of how they dress and show around their riches and in terms of the way they decide to live their lives. There is something happy about living a modest life and something that ties into the initial conception of the Christian faith.

Many have labeled Mormonism as a cult and, most likely, it has everything to do with the fact that we sometimes do not understand or are not aware of what Mormonism is all about. Some individuals still believe that practices such as polygamy are the usual norm in Mormon faith today and that Mormons still have bizarre practices in their temples.


This paper was meant to show, first of all, that Mormonism is, first of all, a Christian religion and that many of the Christian perceptions and beliefs, including love, faith, and family are central to the Mormon religion, just as they are for other Christian religions. On the other hand, it was very interesting to analyze how many of the practices and beliefs were, in fact, very close to those of Catholicism. There were certainly significant differences as well, but Catholicism and Mormonism did not seem to differ too much on many of the fundamental issues and theories.

The Mormon base is now expanding, encouraged by significant financing and by missionaries who go out into the world spreading their religion. This should not necessarily be seen as something negative, but as a way to spread their faith and convince new people, just as Catholicism has done from the 1500s and still does today. One should probably accept Mormonism as another religion that diversifies our cultural and anthropological patrimony......
