mysteries of life is what the future holds. Knowledge of the present and past is clear but no one, no matter how intelligent or wise, is capable of predicting what the future might bring. Many try and, in some marginal way, are correct in their predictions but for most the future is the great unknown.

With the future unknown the best that one can do is prepare for as many eventualities as possible. As unpredictable as life is the one certainty is that the need for a quality education is an essential part of it. Toward this end, I certainly anticipate within the next ten years to have completed my formal education and to have established roots in my business career. As I intend to pursue a masters degree in business, I will have only been in the working environment for, at most, four years but should have been able to formulate many of the contacts necessary for me to succeed. Networking is an essential element of any good business career and I am determined to make myself as accessible to as many interesting and accomplished individuals as I can. Success breeds success and it is my sincerest hope that I will be able to surround myself with such individuals as I pursue my career.

The future is uncertain but I am confident that by providing myself with a quality education, procuring a good job, and making myself available to establish good contacts I can handle any eventualities in a proper and prepared manner. Preparedness is the key and by beginning my business education I am taking the first step.

The reasons for my selecting the Schulich School of Business for my undergraduate education are several.

The first, and most obvious, reason is the school's reputation, both nationally and internationally, for providing an excellent education. Although rankings can be misleading and, often, biased, Schulich is consistently ranked among the best business schools in Canada. Its programs of study are considered to be on the cutting edge while still being able to maintain relevancy in the business world. This allows its graduates to be exposed to not only changes in the market place but also prepared to handle the more pragmatic aspects of employment. Many business programs concentrate on the theoretical aspect of learning and fail to prepare their graduates for the day-to-day grind of the business world. Schulich has a reputation of doing both.

The size and breadth of the Schulich program is also attractive. As I begin my business career, I am not certain as to where my career might take me or what my particular interests might be. Schulich's program is noted for being diverse and able to provide its students with the flexibility needed to allow each student to find his or her niche. For me, this is important as it will allow me to grow in the direction that my interests take me and I will not be forced to adapt to some preconceived program.

Finally, there is the fact that Schulich is located in Toronto, one of the most dynamic and prosperous cities in the world, intrigues me and offers me access to most of the leading companies in Canada. Living and attending school near these companies provides me with access to many of the leading business professionals in the nation….....
