The laws and codes of ethics ensure that planners act responsibly and in the best interest of the public.I also appreciate your mention of the Old Testament laws and the Bible verses that encourage ethical behavior. It is important to remember that our actions should glorify God and that we should avoid conflicts of interest. The example you gave of a conflict of interest, where a planner misuses their position to benefit personally from their decisions, is concerning. It is essential for planners to operate transparently and ethically to maintain the public's trust and confidence in government decision-making. As Matthew 6:24 reminds us, we cannot serve both God and money. We must choose to prioritize serving the public and following ethical guidelines over personal gain. Planners who choose otherwise do so at their own detriment.
