To the Lagos State Government,

It is with great pleasure and excitement that EBONYLIFE FILMS extends to you our invitation as Special Guest of Honour at the World Premiere of our feature length film, THE ROYAL HIBISCUS HOTEL, to be held on the 9th of September 2017 in Toronto, Canada.

THE ROYAL HIBISCUS HOTEL will be screened for the very first time at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), one of the most prestigious and largest publicly attended film festivals in the world, attracting over 480,000 people annually. Receiving such a significant accolade is important because it identifies the movie as a quality production. The movie is the only Nigerian selection and one of just three African features in the Contemporary World Cinema category, spotlighting 48 of the best new films worldwide.

The Toronto Film Festival has attracted some of the biggest stars including Hollywood’s A-list celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Hudson, Scarlett Johansson, Ryan Gosling, Uzo Aduba, David Oyelowo, Hailee Steinfeld and more. Award winning films such as American Beauty, Ray, Mr. Nobody, 127 Hours, Black Swan, The Five Obstructions, Singapore Sling, Moonlight, and I Am Love have premiered at TIFF.

The TIFF world premiere of The Royal Hibiscus Hotel is good news for filmmakers in Nigeria and the African continent, providing further confirmation that positive African stories are attaining global recognition, indicative of improved script writing and higher production values. The world will be able to see with its own eyes the glory and grandeur of Nigerian cinema. This momentous occasion will be marked with fanfare and celebration both here in Nigeria as well as across the world as our people realize the great and significant strides we are making on behalf of Nigerians and Africans everywhere.

EbonyLife Films is putting Nigeria on the map with our stories. Year after year, we showcase the best Nigeria has to offer.
This great news from TIFF only serves to confirm the excellent work that we are currently doing. The magnificent work that our team members are achieving, that our directors are overseeing, and that all our contributors and stakeholders are partaking in is the confirmation of the considerable ability not only of EbonyLife but of Nigeria as well.

Join us in celebrating this wonderful achievement as we look forward to continuing our successes and representing the African people on the world stage. Through our movie making and storytelling, we promise to always put Africa’s best face forward and to promote a positive image of our people, our lives, our stories and our place in society.

Today, we have much to be proud of—but this is only the beginning. The future is bright for EbonyLife Films because we believe that the future is bright for Africa. We will never stop showcasing the awesome African talent, the tremendous African skill, the amazing African intellect, and the stupendous African heart. It is an honor to be welcomed by the Toronto Film Festival to stand shoulder to shoulder alongside so many other worthy filmmakers and producers.

It is our great joy to convey to our hope that you will also take part in this celebration. It is not just our own success that is celebrated on this day, but the success of Africa.
